Der Putumayo bei Puerto Asís

Der Putumayo (Río Putumayo) ist ein Fluss in Südamerika. Er mündet in der Nähe von San Antônio do Içá in Brasilien in den Amazonas. Seine Länge beträgt 1.813 km. Der Putumayo ist in Brasilien als der Içá bekannt und in fast seiner ganzen Länge befahrbar. Er wird von der dortigen Kautschukindustrie zum Transport genutzt.

Der Putumayo entsteht aus dem Guamués in der Nähe von Pasto, Kolumbien, der im La Concha-See seine Quelle hat. Der Guamués fließt südostwärts an den stark bewaldeten Flachländer von Puerto Asís vorbei. Ab diesem Punkt ist er als Putumayo bekannt und bildet die Grenze zwischen Peru und Kolumbien und zwischen Ecuador und Kolumbien.

Nach dem Fluss Putumayo ist das kolumbianische Departament Putumayo benannt.
