Als Amino-Terminus, kurz N-Terminus, wird jenes Ende eines Proteins oder Polypeptids bezeichnet, welches eine Aminosäure mit einer freien Aminogruppe (NH2) besitzt.
Mit dem N-Terminus startet die Proteinbiosynthese am Ribosom. Die Aminogruppe bleibt frei, während die Carboxylgruppe über eine Peptidbindung mit der nächsten Aminosäure kovalent verbunden wird. Die freie Aminogruppe gibt dem N-Terminus den Namen.
