Jim Prentice

Jim Prentice PC (* 20. Juli 1956 in South Porcupine, Kanada) ist Industrieminister von Kanada.

Leben

Jim Prentice schloss 1977 die University of Alberta mit einem Bachelor of Commerce ab und studierte Rechtswissenschaften an der Dalhousie University.[1]

Er bewarb sich 2003 um den Vorsitz der neu gegründeten Konservativen Partei Kanadas, war aber nicht erfolgreich. Am 28. Juni 2004 wurde Prentice erstmals in das kanadische Parlament gewählt. Am 23. Januar 2006 erfolgte seine Wiederwahl und am 6. Februar 2006 wurde Prentice zum Minister für Indianerangelegenheiten und nördliche Entwicklung (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development). Dies blieb er bis zur Ernennung zum Industrieminister (Minister of Industry) am 14. August 2007.

Jim Prentice ist verheiratet und hat drei Kinder.
