LinuxMCE (Linux Media Center Edition) ist eine freie Erweiterung für die Linux-Distribution Kubuntu, die den Betrieb eines HTPC (Home Theater PC), ähnlich der Windows XP Media Center Edition, ermöglicht. Weiterhin kann LinuxMCE als zentrale Steuereinheit für die digitale Hausverwaltung fungieren. Mit zusätzlicher Hardware ist es möglich, zum Beispiel die integrierte Telefonanlage Asterisk, Jalousien, Lampen, Klimageräte, o. ä. über den europäischen Installationsbus zu steuern.

Seit der Version 0704 basiert LinuxMCE auf der Ubuntu-Variante Kubuntu. Neben dem notwendigen Linux-Betriebssystem bedient sich LinuxMCE noch weiterer Open-Source-Anwendungen wie zum Beispiel Asterisk, Xine, MythTV, Firefox, VideoLAN oder Pluto (Hausautomation).
