Location-Scout

Als Locationscout wird in der Regel die Person benannt, die im Auftrag einer Filmproduktion oder eines Fotografen bestimmte Drehorte bzw. Motive für Fotoshootings ausfindig machen muss. Der Locationscout ist in der Regel dem Szenenbildner unterstellt und arbeitet fast ausschließlich nach dessen Anweisung. In Amerika werden Locationscouts meistens äußerst gut bezahlt und sind ein eigenständiger hochangesehener Beruf, auch in Deutschland setzt sich der Beruf des Locationscouts immer mehr bei den Produktionsfirmen durch. Kaum eine Produktion verzichtet auf den professionellen "Filmblick" der Locationscouts.

Aufgaben

Die Aufgaben des Locationscouts sind:

  • Suchen und Auffinden der Drehorte gemäß den Vorgaben des Drehbuchs und in Absprache mit Szenenbildner und Regisseur, wobei die Locations sowohl den dramaturgischen als auch den organisatorischen Anforderungen entsprechen müssen.
  • Aufzeichnen und Fotografie der Besonderheiten, Überprüfung auf potentielle Schwierigkeitsfaktoren
  • Prüfung und Voranfrage der Drehgenehmigung von Besitzern, Ein- und Anwohnern, Behörden usw.
  • Dokumentation der Infrastruktur vor Ort, wie Zufahrtswege, Notausgänge, Krankenhäuser, behördliche, juristische und persönliche Ansprechpartner am Drehort
  • Organisation der Drehortbesichtigung von Regisseur, Kameramann und Szenenbildner

Projektbezogene Suche

Der Locationscout bespricht das Drehbuch mit Regisseur und Szenenbildner. In einigen Fällen hat er auch ein gewisses Mitsprache- oder Änderungsrecht wenn am Set z.B. technische oder organisatorische Widrig- oder Schwierigkeiten auftreten können oder könnten (z.B. Waldbrandgefahr durch Drehscheinwerfer, bei Wildtier- oder Unterwasserdrehs Probleme mit Versicherungen und/oder Tierschutz o. ä.).

Projektunabhängige Suche

Diese Art ist vor allem in den USA sehr verbreitet, findet aber in Europa immer mehr Nachahmer. Eigenständige Locationscouts suchen und sammeln auf eigene Faust interessante Drehorte und "makeln" mit ihnen. Es gibt sogar einen regelrechten "Drehortmarkt" mit auf bestimmte Drehorte spezialisierten Agenturen (für Unterwasserdrehs, Berglandschaften, Kriegsorte, Gefängnisse, Bordelle... usw.). Nicht selten sind diese sogar für die entsprechende Komparserie mitzuständig.
