M/S King of Scandinavia

Die M/S King of Scandinavia ist ein Fährschiff der dänischen Reederei DFDS, das auf der Route IJmuiden–Newcastle verkehrt.

Das Schiff wurde 1987 bei der Schichau Seebeckwerft AG, Bremerhaven, als "M/S Nils Holgersson" gebaut und für TT-Line auf der Strecke Travemünde–Trelleborg eingesetzt. 1993 wurde das Schiff an die Reederei Brittany Ferries verkauft und in "M/S Val de Loire" umgetauft. Nach umfangreichen Umbaumaßnahmen, die 1993 in der italienischen Werft INMA durchgeführt wurden und durch die das Schiff eine neue Bugsektion erhielt, wurde es zwischen Plymouth und Santander sowie Roscoff–Cork/Plymouth eingesetzt.

Im November 2005 wurde das Schiff an DFDS verkauft und im Februar 2006 ausgeliefert. Das Schiff wurde in "M/S King of Scandinavia" umgetauft und bedient seit dem 11. März 2006 die Strecke Ijmuiden–Newcastle zusammen mit der Fähre "M/S Queen of Scandinavia".

Seit dem 29. Mai 2007 wird das baugleiche Schwesterschiff "M/S Princess of Norway" auf der gleichen Route eingesetzt, sodass die beiden ehemaligen TT-Liner wieder vereint fahren.
