Margin Trading

Der Effektenlombardkredit ist ein Lombardkredit, der durch Pfandrecht an den (börsenfähigen) Wertpapieren (Effekten) eines Wertpapierdepots gesichert ist. Er dient im Regelfall der Finanzierung des Kaufs von Wertpapieren (auch Margin Trading genannt). Durch die teilweise Kreditfinanzierung der Wertpapiere wird ein Hebeleffekt erzielt (auch Leverage-Effekt genannt). Dies kann die Rendite des Wertpapierdepots stark heben (oder die Verluste stark erhöhen). Der Effektenlombardkredit ist ein Kontokorrentkredit.

Die Wertpapiere im Depot werden von der Bank nicht voll, sondern nur bis zu bestimmten Beleihungsgrenzen als Kreditsicherheit bewertet. Beispielsweise bewertet die DAB Bank AG alle Wertpapiere mit 50% ihres aktuellen Kurswertes. Sofern der gemäß Bankkriterien ermittelte Gesamtwert des Depots unter die Inanspruchnahme des Kredites fällt, besteht eine Verpflichtung, Sicherheiten nachzuliefern („Margin Call“). Sofern der Kunde dieser Nachschusspflicht nicht nachkommt, ist die Bank berechtigt, Teile des Depots zu verkaufen.

Der Effektenlombardkredit wird als standardisiertes Bankprodukt hauptsächlich Privatkunden angeboten.

Verwendungszwecke des Effektenlombardkredits

  • Kauffinanzierung für größere Anschaffungen (z. B. Kraftfahrzeug)
  • Fremdfinanzierte Anlagen (Ausnutzung des sog. Leverage-Effekts)
  • Liquidität für unternehmerische Tätigkeiten schaffen
  • Bestellung einer Garantie für sich selber (v. a. Kreditkarte) oder für einen Dritten
  • als Zusatzsicherheit für Immobilienfinanzierungen
