Midatlantic English

Midatlantic English

Als Midatlantic English wird in der anglistischen Sprachwissenschaft ein Dialekt genannt, der sich weder dem "General American" (GenA, verbreitet in den USA) noch der "Received Pronunciation" (RP, verbreitet im Vereinigten Königreich) zuordnen lässt, sondern eine Mischung der beiden meistgelehrten Sprachfärbungen darstellt.

Der Begriff spielt ironisch auf den zwischen beiden Ländern gelegenen Atlantik an und wird meist im Scherz verwendet.
