Mountains of the Moon University

Die Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) ist die Universität der Stadt Fort Portal im Distrikt Kabarole in Westen Ugandas und wurde nach dem Ruwenzori-Gebirge benannt, das die Regionen Kabarole, Kasese, Bundibugyo, Kibaale, Bushenyi und die Demokratische Republik Kongo miteinander verbindet. Die Universität ist in Kabundaire, weniger als einen Kilometer vom Stadtzentrum Fort Portals, gelegen. Der Hauptcampus wird am Lake Saaka, etwa acht Kilometer von Fort Portal-Stadt entstehen.

Der aktuelle Leiter der MMU ist der Kanzler Prof. Edward Rugumayo.

Die Mountains of the Moon University erhielt nach einer längeren Planungsphase am 29. März 2005 vom National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) ihre offizielle Lizenz als Universität tätig zu werden.

Seit 2007 ist der Österreichische Auslandsdienst an der MMU tätig.
