NK Maribor ist ein slowenischer Fußballverein aus Maribor.

Geschichte

NK Maribor ist der erfolgreichste slowenische Fußballverein. In Slowenien ist er seit der Unabhängigkeit der Rekordmeister mit sieben Titeln. In der Saison 1999/2000 machte man von sich zu hören, als man sich für die Champions League qualifizierte. Den größten Anteil daran trägt der damalige Trainer Bojan Prašnikar. Auch ist der bekannteste Spieler des Landes, welcher im Inland spielt, bei NK Maribor unter Vertrag: Damir Pekič.

Stadion

Der Verein trägt seine Heimspiele im Stadion "Ljudski Vrt" aus. Zur Zeit wird das Stadion fast von Grund auf neugebaut. Lediglich die 1964 errichtete Haupttribüne bleibt erhalten. Nach der Fertigstellung der Umbauarbeiten wird das Stadion eine Kapazität von 13.000 überdachten Sitzplätzen erreichen. Im Zuge des Stadionumbaus wird in die neuen Tribünen auch ein Einkaufszentrum integriert.
