Die Post.24-Station der Österreichischen Post ist ein System von Paketautomaten ähnlich der deutschen Packstation, die vom gleichen Hersteller (der KEBA AG) produziert werden.

Pilotphase

In der Pilotphase seit dem 24. November 2006 gibt es in Wien 24 vollautomatische Paketautomaten, an denen der Empfänger zu jeder Tages- und Nachtzeit Pakete abholen kann. Die Paketautomaten stehen an stark frequentierten Plätzen (Bahnhöfen, Supermärkten und Tankstellen) sowie bei Postfilialen, die leicht mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln erreicht werden können.[1]

Wenn ein Postzusteller den Empfänger an der Zustelladresse (beispielsweise Wohnung) nicht antrifft, kann er das Paket auch im Paketautomaten hinterlegen. In diesem Fall wird dem Empfänger in seinem Postfach eine sogenannte „Post.24-Abholkarte“ mit Barcode hinterlegt. Ob der Postzusteller davon Gebrauch macht, oder wie bisher das Paket am jeweiligen Zustellpostamt zur Abholung durch den Empfänger hinterlegt, liegt im Ermessen des Zusteller und kann weder vom Absender noch vom Empfänger beeinflusst werden.[2]

Handhabung

Sobald ein Paket eingetroffen ist, wird der Kunde darüber per E-Mail und/oder SMS, oder bei erfolglosen Zustellversuch über eine Benachrichtung mit Barcode in seinem Postfach, verständigt. Die Nutzung der Paketautomaten ist sowohl für Privat- als auch für Geschäftskunden kostenlos.

Briefe, Kleinpakete und Päckchen können nicht über Post.24-Stationen abgegeben werden.[3]

An jedem Paketautomaten können Pakete aufgegeben werden, wenn der Empfänger das Porto bezahlt. De facto können somit nur Retouren aufgegeben werden. Alle anderen Paketsendungen müssen bei einer Postfiliale freigemacht und aufgegeben werden, können aber an eine Post.24-Station verschickt werden.

Wird ein Paket mit der „Post.24-Abholkarte“ abgeholt (in Folge eines erfolglosen Zustellversuch) muss nur diese „Post.24-Abholkarte“ mit aufgedruckten Barcode vor dem Kamerasystem gehalten werden, der Empfängername zur Kontrolle eingetippt werden, um das Paket zu erhalten. Eine E-Mail-Adresse oder ein Mobiltelefon mit SMS ist für die Paketabholung nicht nötig.
