Länge 11 km Breite 3 km Fläche 20 km² Höchste Erhebung 620 m Einwohner (unbewohnt) Powell Island ist eine kleine, unbewohnte Insel im Südlichen Ozean, die zur Gruppe der Südlichen Orkney-Inseln gehört. Sie liegt zwischen der größten Insel der Gruppe Coronation Island und der zweitgrößten Insel Laurie Island. Die langgestreckte, größtenteils eisbedeckte Insel weist in Nord-Süd-Richtung ein Länge von etwa 11 km auf, in Ost-West-Richtung beträgt die Breite hingegen nur etwa 3 Kilometer. Ihre Fläche beträgt 20 km².[1]
Powell Island wurde im Dezember 1821 von den Robbenjägern Nathaniel Palmer und George Powell entdeckt und kartiert. 1839 wurde die Insel nach Letzterem benannt.
