Ranch Dressing ist eine Würzsauce aus Buttermilch oder saurer Sahne, Mayonnaise, zerhackten Zwiebeln und Knoblauch sowie weiteren Zutaten. Ranch Dressing ist in den USA eine der beliebtesten Salatsaucen und wird oft auch als Dippsauce benutzt. In Europa ist Ranch Dressing dagegen relativ unbekannt.

Geschichte

Im Jahr 1954 eröffneten Steve und Gayle Henson eine Gastranch in der Nähe von Santa Barbara in Kalifornien und nannten sie "Hidden Valley Ranch" (Verborgenes-Tal-Ranch). Dort servierten sie den Gästen eine Salatsauce, die großen Anklang fand und bald auch im Versandhandel erhältlich war, so dass eine Fabrik zu ihrer Herstellung gebaut werden konnte. Seit den 1970er-Jahren ist sie in Besitz des Unternehmens Clorox, welches das Ranch Dressing weiterentwickelte und zu einer der beliebtesten Salatsaucen der USA gemacht hat.
