Ranelagh Gardens in London ist das Gelände, auf dem heutzutage die jährliche Chelsea Flower Show stattfindet. Es erstreckt sich neben dem Royal Hospital Chelsea bis hinunter an das Ufer der Themse. Der Name erinnert an den Lustgarten, der hier 1742 eröffnet wurde und sich bis zum Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts höchster Beliebtheit erfreute. In seiner Beliebtheit konnte er mit den wesentlich älteren, 1660 eröffneten Vauxhall Gardens konkurrieren.

Ein Kanal mit einem chinesischen Pavillon führte zu einem großen, zentral gelegenen Kuppelbau. Im Inneren der Rotunde konnten die Besucher promenieren, und es wurde musikalische Unterhaltung geboten; 1765 trat hier der neunjährige Mozart auf. Canaletto hat sowohl die Rotunde, die 1805 abgerissen wurde, als auch deren Interieur gemalt.
