Der Begriff Rat Race (zu deutsch „Rattenrennen“) bezeichnet im englischen Sprachraum eine endlose, selbstzerstörende oder sinnlose Zielerstrebung. Er leitet sich vom Bild der Laborratten ab, die erfolglos versuchen, dem Laufrad oder dem Labyrinth zu entkommen.
