Willy Ronis [wiˈli ʀɔˈni] (* 14. August 1910 in Paris, Frankreich), ist ein französischer Fotograf.

Leben und Werk

Ronis wollte eigentlich Komponist werden, muss aber nach seinem Militärdienst im Jahre 1932 zur Unterstützung seines krebskranken Vaters in dessen Fotostudio am Boulevard Voltaire in Paris arbeiten. Ronis beginnt seine fotografische Karriere mit Sozialreportagen und veröffentlicht sein erstes Bild 1936. Nach dem Krieg wendet er sich in seinen fotografischen Arbeiten „dem normalen Leben auf der Straße“ in Paris und der Provence zu und bildet, gemeinsam mit Henri Cartier-Bresson und Robert Doisneau, die französische Schule des "fotografischen Humanismus". 1946 tritt er der Agentur Rapho bei und wird Mitglied der Fotografenvereinigung Groupe des XV. Im Jahre 2001 beendet Ronis seine Karriere als Fotograf aus gesundheitlichen Gründen.

In den Jahren 2005 und 2006 tourte eine Ausstellung zum Werk Willy Ronis’ mit dem Titel La Vie - En Passant durch Deutschland. Außerdem widmete die Stadt Paris ihrem berühmten Sohn eine Ausstellung im Rathaus, die dort bis zum 27. Mai 2006 kostenlos zu sehen war.[1]
