Scout (Sport)

Ein Scout oder Sportscout (von engl. Kundschafter) ist ein Mitarbeiter eines Sportvereins, der Spiele und Spieler der gegnerischen Mannschaften beobachtet, um eigene Informationen zu erhalten und nicht auf die öffentlichen Angaben beschränkt zu sein. Diese Informationen nutzt der Trainer, um seine Mannschaft gezielt auf einen Gegner einzustellen und vorzubereiten. Große Mannschaften beschäftigen mehrere solche Beobachter, die oft ehemalige Trainer oder Spieler sind.

Alternativ ist ein Scout auch ein Talentsichter, also eine Person, die bei Amateurspielen anwesend ist, um neue Talente zu finden. Vor allem sind diese Scouts in Nordamerika zugegen und beobachten den College-Sport, entweder im Auftrag eines Vereins oder einer großen Liga, zum Beispiel der NBA.
