She’s Like the Wind ist ein Pop-/Rock-Lied aus dem Jahr 1987, gesungen von dem Schauspieler Patrick Swayze und der Sängerin Wendy Fraser.

Hintergrund

Als die Produzenten des Films Dirty Dancing die Arbeit an der Filmmusik beenden wollten, fragte Swayze, ob er nicht für den Film ein Lied schreiben und dies auch singen könnte. Die Produzenten und der Regisseur stimmten dem zu. So schrieb Swayze zusammen mit dem Film- und Fernsehkomponisten Stacey Widelitz[6] das Lied und demonstrierte seine früher unbekannten Sänger- und Liedschreiberqualitäten. Das Lied war eigentlich für den Film Grandview aus dem Jahr 1984 gedacht, in dem Swayze auch mitgespielt hatte, doch stattdessen begleitete es ihn bei seiner Paraderolle in Dirty Dancing im Jahr 1987.

Charts

Das Lied, genauso wie der Film, in den das Lied integriert wurde, wurde ein großer Erfolg. She's Like the Wind erreichte Platz 3 in den US-amerikanischen Charts und in vielen anderen Ländern die Top 10 der Charts. Das Lied wird heute noch sehr oft im Radio gespielt.

Musikvideo

Das Musikvideo zu She's Like the Wind wurde in Schwarz/Weiß gedreht. Es zeigt Original-Ausschnitte aus dem Film Dirty Dancing. Außerdem werden Szenen von Patrick Swayze und Wendy Fraser eingeblendet. Das Video befindet sich auch auf der DVD zum Film.

Coverversionen

  • Auf Jan Waynes Album Back Again! von 2002 befindet sich eine Coverversion des Liedes.
  • Im Jahre 2006 coverte die Gruppe Vibekingz feat. Maliq das Lied und erreichte mit Platz 2 in Deutschland eine höhere Chartspositionen als das Original.
  • Mehrzad Marashi coverte das Lied 2006 bevor er Superstar wurde unter dem Titel She's gone.
  • Anfang 2007 war eine weitere Version von Lumidee mit Tony Sunshine in den Charts.
  • Die britische Band Ultrabeat coverte das Lied auf ihrem 2008 erschienenen Album Discolights: The Album.
