Shy’m [ʃæm] (* 28. November 1985 in Paris als Tamara Marthe) ist eine bekannte französische Sängerin und in Frankreich bereits eine anerkannte Künstlerin. In Deutschland wird sie zurzeit wenig gefördert und nur von wenigen Radiostationen gespielt.

Biografie

Die Tochter einer aus Martinique stammenden Mutter und eines marokkanischen Vaters ist in der Pariser Vorstadt Trappes in Frankreich geboren. Da sie mit musikalischen Eltern aufwuchs, erkannte sie schon früh ihre Leidenschaft zu Musik und Tanz. Sie begann in ihrer Kindheit Tanzstunden zu nehmen was ihr den Spitznamen "Spicy Tam" einbrachte, was ihre Anstrengungen im Bereich des Tanzens anerkannte. Ihren Abschluss machte sie mit 17 Jahren.

Neben ihrem Studium arbeitete sie an einigen Gesangsaufnahmen, die sie dann später in Paris an mehrere Major Labels schickte. Zu dieser Zeit wurde sie von dem als K-Maro bekannten französischen Rapper entdeckt. Nach ihrer Entdeckung gelangte sie dann zu ihrem jetzigen Künstlernamen Shy'm, welcher ein Kofferwort mit den Bedeutungen, shy (schüchtern) und Martinique (dem Geburtsort ihrer Mutter) ist.

Nachdem sie ihr eigenes Album Mes Fantaisies aufgenommen hatte, gab K-Maro ihr die Chance, mit einem Auftritt auf seinem Album Million Dollar Boy mehr Bekanntheit bei der breiten Masse zu erlangen. Besagter Song erlangte dann Platz vier der französischen Singlecharts.
