Die Region deckt sich in etwa mit den traditionell unter dem Begriff West Country zusammengefassten Grafschaften, wobei Cornwall ob seines deutlich keltischen Gepräges oft von dieser geografisch-kulturellen Zuordnung ausgenommen wird.
