Tautonym

Das Tautonym (griech. tautos „dasselbe“) ist ein Begriff des Internationalen Codes für die Botanische Nomenklatur (ICBN) und bezeichnet einen Namen für eine Pflanzenart, in welchem Gattungsname und Art-Epitheton gleich sind, z. B. „Linaria linaria“.

Nach den Regeln des ICBN sind Tautonyme ausgeschlossen, so dass ein solcher Name nicht gültig veröffentlicht werden kann (Art 23.4.). Es genügt jedoch bereits ein kleiner Unterschied, beispielsweise ist Ziziphus zizyphus gestattet. Eine vergleichbare Regel gibt es für die zoologische Nomenklatur nicht.
