The Academy of Ancient Music (Akademie für Alte Musik) ist ein englisches Kammerorchester, welches sich im Rahmen der historischen Aufführungspraxis spezialisiert hat.
Das Ensemble wurde 1970 durch den Cembalisten Christopher Hogwood gegründet. Namensgeber war eine Londoner Institution gleichen Namens, die 1726 gegründet wurde.
Hogwoods Ensemble mit Sitz an der Universität Cambridge, hat sich hauptsächlich auf Kompositionen des Barock, der Klassik und der Frühromantik spezialisiert. Die "Academy" spielt auf Originalinstrumenten. Die Musiker werden nach historischem Vorbild von Cembalo oder vom Konzertmeisterpult aus dirigiert. Konzertmeister der vergangenen Jahre waren namhafte Violinisten wie Simon Standage, Rachel Podger, Andrew Manze. Manze und der Oboist Paul Goodwin wurden 1996 zu stellvertretenden Ensembleleitern bestellt.
Seit dem 30. April 2006 wird das Ensemble durch den Cembalisten Richard Egarr geleitet.
