Der Toxic Substances Control Act 1976 (TSCA, ausgesprochen: „Toska“) ist das US-amerikanische „Gefahrstoff-Überwachungsgesetz“ und die wichtigste Norm der US-amerikanischen Chemikalienregulierung.
Geschichte
Im Jahre 1976 wurde dieses Gesetz vom Kongress der Vereinigten Staaten beschlossen. Die Environmental Protection Agency (EPA = US-amerikanische Umweltbehörde) wurde dadurch in die Lage versetzt, den Schutz vor gefährlichen Stoffen umzusetzen.
Vergleichbar zu den Verzeichnissen EINECS, ELINCS und NLP der EU, gibt es dort das TSCA Chemical Substance Inventory.
Im TSCA-Verzeichnis nicht enthaltene Stoffe sind neue Stoffe und müssen angemeldet werden.
In die USA können z. B. nur Stoffe importiert werden, die im TSCA-Verzeichnis gelistet sind.
Eine eigene TSCA-Nummer gibt es nicht, es wird mit CAS-Nummern gearbeitet.
