Baron Denham

Baron Denham, of Weston Underwood in der Grafschaft Buckinghamshire, ist ein erblicher britischer Adelstitel in der Peerage of the United Kingdom, welcher von der Familie Bowyer geführt wird.

Verleihung

Der Titel wurde im Jahre 1937 für George Bowyer, 1. Baronet, geschaffen. Dieser hatte fast 20 Jahre für die Conservative Party im House of Commons gesessen, davon viele Jahre als Whip. Zeitweise war er auch stellvertretender Parteivorsitzender gewesen.

Baronetswürden

Der erste Baron war bereits 1933 zum Baronet, of Weston Underwood, ernannt worden. Dieser Titel wird neben der Baronie geführt.

Der zweite Baron erbte 1950 ferner die Würde eines Baronets, of Denham Court in der Grafschaft Buckinghamshire. Dieser Titel war 1660 für William Bowyer, einen verdienten Abgeordneten des Unterhauses geschaffen worden. Der zweite Baron Denham ist nunmehr auch zehnter Baronet, of Denham Court.

Sir George Bowyer, 5. Baronet, of Denham Court, war ein Admiral der Royal Navy, der in der Seeschlacht am Glorious First of June schwer verwundet wurde. Er wurde 1794 zum Baronet, of Radley in der Grafschaft Berkshire, ernannt. Dieser Titel erlosch allerdings 1950 mit dem Tode des neunten Baronets, of Denham Court, bzw. fünften Baronets, of Radley.
