Baron Rothschild, of Tring in der Grafschaft Hertfordshire, ist ein erblicher britischer Adelstitel in der Peerage of the United Kingdom, benannt nach dem britischen Zweig der bekannten jüdischen Bankiers-Familie Rothschild.

Verleihung

Der Titel wurde im Jahre 1885 für den Londoner Bankier Nathan Mayer Rothschild, 1. Baron Rothschild geschaffen, der den Bau des Sueskanals finanziert hatte. Er war eng mit Benjamin Disraeli verbunden und das erste Mitglied des House of Lords, das jüdischen Glaubens war.

Weiterer Titel

1847 war bereits Anthony de Rothschild, ein Onkel des ersten Barons, zum Baronet, of Tring Park, erhoben worden. Als dieser 1876 ohne männlichen Erben starb, ging der Titel auf den späteren ersten Baron, seinen Neffen, über.

Die Baronetcy wird nunmehr als nachgeordneter Titel geführt.
