Uganda Christian University

Die Uganda Christian University (UCU, Christliche Universität Uganda) ist eine Universität in Uganda, die von der anglikanischen Church of the Province of Uganda betrieben wird. Die Universität wurde 1997 als Dachorganisation der anglikanischen Colleges gebildet und von der Regierung Ugandas offiziell anerkannt. Ihr Hauptsitz ist das Bishop Tucker College.

Der Hauptcampus des Bishop Tucker College liegt auf einer Fläche von 27 Hektar in Mukono zwischen Kampala und Jinja. Das 1913 gegründete College hat etwa 3000 Studenten.

Ebenfalls zur Universität gehört das Bishop Barham College in Kabale im Südwesten Ugandas auf dem Rugarama Hill. Das College wurde 1924 gegründet und bietet aktuell 500 Studenten Studienplätze.

Kanzler der Universität ist der Erzbischof von Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi. Rowan Douglas Williams, Erzbischof von Canterbury ist ihr Patron.

Der UCU obliegt zudem die Aufsicht über mehrere weitere regionale Ausbildungsorte:

  • Bishop Usher-Wilson Divinity College, Buwalasi
  • Archbishop Janani Luwum Theological College, Gulu
  • Uganda Martyrs Seminary, Namugongo
  • Bishop McAllister Theological College, Kyogyera
  • St. Paul's Theological College, Ringili
