Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol

Das XCP Protokoll (XCP) ist ein Netzwerkprotokoll. Es wurde vom ASAM e.V. standardisiert und findet hauptsächlich Anwendung bei der Entwicklung und beim Test von Steuergeräten für Kraftfahrzeuge.

Die Entwicklung des XCP Protokolls geht auf die Erfahrungen bei der Anwendung des CAN Calibration Protocol (CCP) zurück. Der Funktionsumfang des XCP Protokolls wurde gegenüber CCP leicht verändert und ergänzt. Darüber hinaus generalisiert das XCP Protokoll den Zugriff auf Steuergeräte so, dass verschiedene Transportschichten benutzbar sind - zum Beispiel CAN, Ethernet, Flexray und USB. Die Protokolle XCP (auf CAN als Transportschicht) und CCP sind allerdings untereinander nicht kompatibel.

Beide Aspekte, Erweiterung und Generalisierung, werden durch das X im Namen XCP zum Ausdruck gebracht (eXtended).
