Die Yersinia-Arthritis kann im Anschluss an eine fieberhafte Infektion mit Yersinia enterocolitica oder Yersinia pseudotuberculosis nach einem freien Intervall von typischerweise 1 bis 3 Wochen auftreten. Wie bei der Arthritis kommt es zu einer schmerzhaften Schwellung und Überwärmung des betroffenen Gelenkes. Die Diagnose wird über Antikörpernachweis mittels ELISA im Blutserum oder direkten Erregernachweis durch Punktion in der Gelenkflüssigkeit gestellt. Therapiert wird in der Regel wie bei der enteralen Yersiniose mit dem intrazellulär wirksamen Antibiotikum Doxycyclin über mehrere Monate.
