Brake-by-Wire

Eine elektromechanische, mechatronische Bremse oder auch Brake-by-Wire bezeichnet die Art und Weise, wie das Bremssignal an die eigentlichen Aktoren der Bremse geleitet wird.

Es wird zwischen der elektrohydraulischen Bremse, elektropneumatischen Bremse (bei LKW) und der elektromechanischen Bremse unterschieden. Erst der Verzicht auf die Hydraulik oder Pneumatik macht die Bremse zu einer echten Brake-by-Wire-Anwendung, da hier keinerlei fluidtechnische Systeme mehr eingesetzt werden. Siemens VDO Automotive präsentierte auf der IAA 2005 eine auf der Keiltechnik basierte PKW-Bremse, die bis 2010 in Serie gehen soll.
