Die 1. Liga Promotion wird ab der Saison 2012/13 die neue dritte Spielklasse im Schweizer Fussball bilden. Die Einführung der Liga wurde vom Schweizerischen Fussballverband am 12. November 2010 im Rahmen der Reform der Challenge League beschlossen, welche am 21. Mai 2011 bestätigt wurde. [1]

Zusammensetzung

Gebildet wird die neue Liga aus 16 Teams. Sechs Absteiger aus der Challenge League der Saison 2011/12 [2], die besten sechs Teams aus der 1. Liga und die vier besten U21-Mannschaften der 1. Liga werden die erste Saison austragen.

Modus

Der Erstplatzierte der 1. Liga Promotion wird in die Challenge League aufsteigen. Zwei Vereine werden den Gang in die 1. Liga Classic antreten müssen, welche neu die vierte Stufe bilden wird. Die 16 Vereine werden eine Hin- und Rückrunde, und somit 30 Runden, austragen.
