Canadian Solar wurde 2001 von Dr. Shawn Qu gegründet und produziert seitdem Standard- und Spezialmodule. Der Hauptsitz des Unternehmens ist in Kanada und führt alle Produktionsaktivitäten in China durch. Canadian Solar hat mit dem Bau einer weiteren Produktionsstrecke begonnen. Nach Fertigstellung sollen Solarpanels mit einer Leistung von 250 MW produziert werden.
