Naikaku Jōhō Chōsashitsu (jap. 内閣情報調査室, engl. Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office), kurz: Naichō (内調), ist der wichtigste Nachrichtendienst Japans. Die Agentur wird als der CIA ebenbürtig bezeichnet. Es wird kritisiert, sie verwende das meiste seiner Energie auf die Übersetzung ausländischer Publikationen und spioniere japanische Bürger im eigenen Land.[1] Von der Regierungspartei wurde vorgeschlagen, eine japanische Version der CIA zu schaffen.[2]
Spionageskandal
Am 17. Januar 2008 wurde ein Naichō-Beamter wegen Spionage für Russland angeklagt.[3]
Organisation
Naichō hat etwa 170-175 Mitarbeiter. Viele sind von anderen Ministerien ausgeliehen. Die Mehrheit des Personals ist von der Nationalen Polizeibehörde. Naichō gehört zum Amt des Premierministers.
