In der aus 45 Ortschaften und Weilern bestehenden Gemeinde leben 1.634 Menschen. Der Hauptort Nova vas hat 293 Einwohner. Die Gemeinde liegt auf einer Hochebene in der Innerkrain.
Bekannt ist Bloke durch seine Erfindung der Ski. Die Einwohner zählt man zu den ältesten Skifahrern im Alpenraum. Sie benutzten die Buchenlatten für den täglichen Gebrauch, da die Gegend im Winter immer viel Schnee hatte. Sie entwickelten eine Technik sich mit einem Stock vorwärts zu bewegen. [1]
