Caiva

Caiva war eine Göttin, die in römischer Zeit bei Gerolstein im Gebiet der Treverer verehrt wurde. Dort ist sie jeweils einmal auf einer Inschrift bei Pelm[1] und Büdesheim[2] bezeugt. Da an ihrem Tempel geopferte Matronenfiguren gefunden wurden, war sie bestimmt eine Muttergottheit.[3]

Kultstätte "Juddekirchhof"

In der Nähe von Pelm wurde ihr 124 n.Chr. ein Tempel durch Marcus Victorius Pollentinus gestiftet.[1] Dies scheint ein Wallfahrtsort gewesen sein, da die gespendete Geldsumme hoch war. Die Kultstätte wird heute im Volksmund "Juddekirchhof" (Judenkirchhof) genannt, allerdings beruht dies auf eine Missverständnis, denn der Name kommt von "Joddekirchhoff", d.h. "Hof um die Kirche (Heiligtum) der Jodd".[3]
