Coal India ist ein staatlich kontrolliertes Unternehmen mit Firmensitz in Kalkutta.

Das Unternehmen ist der weltweit größte Förderer von Kohle. Coal India wurde 1975 von der indischen Regierung gegründet. Geleitet wird das Unternehmen von Partha S. Bhattacharyya. Im Unternehmen sind rund 400.000 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt.

Im Herbst 2010 plant die Unternehmensleitung rund 10 Prozent der Unternehmensanteile an der Börse zu verkaufen. [1]
