Cryptandra ist eine Gattung aus der Familie der Kreuzdorngewächse (Rhamnaceae). Sie ist in Australien heimisch und umfasst über 40 Arten.

Beschreibung
Cryptandra sind immergrüne, häufig dornige Sträucher. Die sehr kleinen und schmalen Blätter sind auf ihrer Unterseite weißfilzig behaart und stehen häufig in Büscheln.[1]
Die Blüten stehen entweder als Einzelblüten oder in kopf- oder ährenähnlichen Zymen. Der Blütenbecher ist röhren- bis glockenförmig, der häufig schwach gelappte, mit Sternhaaren besetzte Diskus ist kranzförmig.
Der Fruchtknoten ist unterständig, die Teilfrüchte öffnen sich am äußersten Ende sowie seitlich. Der dreilappige Arillus ist sukkulent.[1]
Verbreitung und Systematik
Cryptandra sind sämtlich heimisch im nicht-tropischen Australien. Die Gattung wurde 1798 von James Edward Smith erstbeschrieben. Innerhalb der Kreuzdorngewächse wird sie in die Tribus Pomaderreae eingeordnet. Die Gattung umfasst über 40 Arten.[1]
