High on Fire ist eine US-amerikanische Stoner-Metal-Band.

Bandgeschichte

Nach dem Ende von Sleep gründete Gitarrist Matt Pike 1999 zusammen mit George Rice und Des Kenzel die Band High on Fire. Ihr erstes Album, The Art of Self Defense, kam nicht nur in der Musikpresse schlecht weg, auch der Bankrott ihres Labels verhinderte einen Erfolg. Mit Album zwei und drei bei einem neuen Label wuchs langsam ihre Popularität und das 2007er Album Death Is This Communion brachte ihnen schließlich den Durchbruch. Erstmals landeten sie in den Hard-Rock-Charts und auch in den offiziellen Billboard 200. Noch erfolgreicher war dann Snakes for the Divine, das im Frühjahr 2010 erschien. Es erreichte die Top 100 und bei den Hard-Rock-Alben Platz 5.
