Huaral

Huaral ist die Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen Provinz Huaral des südamerikanischen Anden-Staates Peru.

Die Stadt liegt rund 60 km nördlich von Lima an der Straße PE1NB und 15 km südöstlich von dem 5070 Hektar großen Nationalpark Reserva Nacional de Lachay. In dem Ort leben 79.001 Einwohner (Zensus 2007). [1] Jaime Cirilo Uribe Ochoa ist der amtierende Bürgermeister der Stadt. Der städtische Fußballverein Unión Huaral spielt in der dritthöchsten peruanischen Spielklasse.

Geschichte

Im Mai 2010 hat das peruanische Justizministerium bekannt gegeben, dass das erste privat geführte peruanische Gefängnis mit 1.500 Gefangenen in Huaral errichtet wird. [2] Die Provinz Huaral wurde am 4. August 2010 von einem Erdbeben erschüttert. Das Beben hatte eine Stärke von 3,9 auf der Richterskala. [3]
