Julie Bishop (* 17. Juli 1956 in Lobethal, South Australia) ist eine australische Politikerin.

Leben

Nach ihrer Schulzeit studierte Bishop an der Universität Adelaide und an der Harvard Business School Rechtswissenschaften. Nach ihrem Studium war sie als Rechtsanwältin tätig. Bishop ist Mitglied der Liberal Party of Australia, deren stellvertretende Vorsitzende sie seit 2007 ist. Seit 1998 ist sie für den Wahlbezirk Curtin im Australischen Parlament als Abgeordnete vertreten. Bishop war von 2006 bis 2007 Ministerin für Bildung und Wissenschaft. Ihre Nachfolgerin als Bildungsministerin war nach dem Regierungswechsel Julia Gillard.

Bishop lebt in Perth und ist Mitglied der Anglican Church of Australia. Fünf Jahre lang war sie mit Neil Gillion verheiratet.
