Margaret S. Archer

Margaret Scotford Archer (* 20. Januar 1943) ist eine britische Soziologin.

Archer studierte an der London School of Economics und lehrte Soziologie an der University of Cambridge (1964-1966) und der University of Reading (1966-1973). Seit 1973 ist sie an der University of Warwick tätig, seit 1979 als Professorin. 1986 bis 1990 war sie Präsidentin der International Sociological Association.

Ihre Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind: Makrosoziologie, Kultursoziologie, Soziologie der Erziehung sowie vergleichende europäische Studien.
