Der Metropolitan Borough of Hammersmith war ein Bezirk im Ballungsraum der britischen Hauptstadt London mit dem Status eines Metropolitan Borough. Er existierte von 1900 bis 1965 und lag im Westen der ehemaligen Grafschaft County of London.
Geschichte
Der Bezirk entstand aus dem zuvor eigenständigen Civil parish Hammersmith, der 1834 von Fulham abgetrennt worden war. Die Gemeinde lag in der Grafschaft Middlesex und gehörte ab 1855 zum Einzugsgebiet des Metropolitan Board of Works. 1889 gelangte Hammersmith zum County of London, elf Jahre später folgte die Umwandlung in ein Metropolitan Borough.[1]
Bei der Gründung von Greater London entstand im Jahr 1965 aus der Fusion der Metropolitan Boroughs Hammersmith und Fulham der London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
