Mount Pavlof ist ein Schichtvulkan auf der Alaska-Halbinsel und liegt am Ufer der Pavlof Bay. Er ist der derzeit aktivste Vulkan der Aleutenkette, der letzte Ausbruch ereignete sich 2007.[1]

Seit Beginn der Aufzeichnungen im Jahr 1790 sind 37 Ausbrüche verzeichnet. Da die Ausbrüche eigentümlicherweise meist zwischen September und Dezember erfolgen, ist er der berechenbarste aller aktiven Vulkane der Aleutenkette. In den letzten Jahren gab es mindestens sechs Ausbrüche von unterschiedlicher Intensität, die oft von schweren Erdbeben begleitet waren.[2] Der größte bekannte Ausbruch ereignete sich im Jahr 1911 am Ende einer fünfjährigen Aktivitätsphase. Während dieses Ausbruchs öffnete sich eine Kluft an der Nordflanke des Vulkans und eruptierte große Felsbrocken und Lavaströme.[1]
