Pretty Lights ist ein Künstler, der mit richtigem Namen Derek Vincent Smith heißt. Er ist ein amerikanischer Musiker aus Fort Collins, Colorado.

Geschichte

Derek Smith beschäftigte sich bereits während seiner Schulzeit mit Hip Hop. Schließlich verließ er die Schule, um sich ganz der Musik zu widmen. Seine Priorität war inzwischen zu Rave gewechselt. Er veröffentlichte seit 2006 über sieben Alben, die alle zum freien Download auf seiner Homepage bereit stehen. Pretty Lights hatte 2009 und 2010 Live-Auftritte auf großen amerikanischen Festivals.

Stil

Die Musik von Pretty Lights basiert hauptsächlich auf Samples und ist eine Mischung aus vielen Genres unter anderem von Electronic, Funk, Hip Hop, Soul und Trip Hop.
