Raymond W. Field (* 24. Mai 1944 in Dublin) ist ein Weihbischof im Erzbistum Dublin.

Leben und Karriere

Nach seiner Priesterweihe 1970 wurde Field am 28. Mai 1997 zum Weihbischof in Dublin und Titularbischof von Árd Mór ernannt und am 21. September durch Desmond Connell geweiht. Nach der Veröffentlichung des Ryan-Berichts und des Murphy-Berichts, die den sexuellen Missbrauch sowie die Ausbeutung von Kindern und Jugendlichen in der irischen römisch-katholischen Kirche aufklärten, bot er am Heiligabend 2009 dem Papst seinen Rücktritt an. Er gab auf einer Christmette seine persönliche Mitschuld am Missbrauch tausender Kinder in Irland bekannt und entschuldigte sich bei den Opfern.[1] Wie auch im Fall von Weihbischof Eamonn Oliver Walsh, der dem Papst ebenfalls seinen Rücktritt angeboten hatte, lehnte der Papst die Annahme des Rücktrittsgesuchs jedoch im August 2010 ab.[2]
