Das Rehoboth Museum ist das Stadt-Museum von Rehoboth in Namibia. Es wird von einem Museumsrat geführt, der von der Stadtverwaltung ernannt wird.

Geschichte

Das Museum befindet sich im alten, 1903 von der deutschen Schutztruppe errichteten Postmeister-Haus (englisch Old Postmaster Building) im Zentrum von Rehoboth. 1984 entschied sich der Stadtrat von Rehoboth ein Museum zu errichten und wählte das Gebäude nahe dem historischen Postamt. Nach einigen Um- und Ausbauten wurde das Rehoboth Museum 1986 eröffnet.

Ausstellung

Das Museum zeigt in zehn verschiedenen, thematisch sortierten Ausstellungen das Leben und die Geschichte der Region um Rehoboth. Die Ausstellungen reichen von Mineralien bis hin zur Geschichte der Stadtverwaltung.

Die Ausstellungen beinhalten u.a.: Traditionelle Häuser, die Geschichte der Stadt, Geologie, Umwelt und Natur, Anthropologie, Archäologie, die Regierung von Rehoboth, Kunst.
