Russell Gleason

Russell Gleason (* 6. Februar 1908 in Portland (Oregon); † 26. Dezember 1945 in New York City) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler. Bekannt wurde er durch den Film Im Westen nichts Neues.

Leben

Russell wurde am 6. Februar 1908 in Portland als Sohn des Schauspielerpaars Lucile Gleason und James Gleason geboren. Seine schauspielerische Ausbildung wurde schon im Kindesalter von seinen Eltern gefördert. Er begann seine Karriere 1928 mit dem Film The Shady Lady. Durch den Film Im Westen nichts Neues (1930) wurde er zu einer internationalen Berühmtheit.

Mit 30 Jahren heiratete er Cynthia Lindsay, mit der er einen Sohn hatte. Er starb am 26. Dezember 1945, als er wegen eines Baufehlers aus dem Fenster seines Hotels fiel und an den Folgen des Sturzes umkam.
