Tell el-Kheleifeh

Tell el-Kheleifeh (auch Tell el-Chulefi) ist eine Ausgrabungsstätte am Golf von Akaba auf halber Distanz zwischen dem modernen Eilat und Akaba. Der Forscher F. Frank identifizierte die Ruinen bei seinen Ausgrabungen im Jahr 1933 mit dem biblischen Ezion-Geber. Bei seinen Ausgrabungen zwischen 1938 und 1940 übernahm der Archäologe Nelson Glueck diese These. Dabei wurden zwei Festungen aus der Königszeit und eine edomitische Siedlung aus der persischen Zeit freigelegt.[1]
