Troposcatter ist die Ausbreitung von Funkwellen, welche an der Troposphäre zurückgestreut werden. Dadurch sind Reichweiten möglich, welche mit einer Richtfunkstrecke aufgrund der Erdkrümmung nicht erreicht werden können.

Wegen der geringen Rückstreuung der Signale sind für Troposcatter hohe Sendeleistungen und Richtantennen erforderlich. Ein Beispiel war vor der Etablierung von Kommunikationssatelliten das White Alice Communications System in Alaska.

Troposcatter ist nicht zu verwechseln mit troposphärischen Überreichweiten von UKW-Signalen bei Inversionswetterlage.
