Der Titel wurde im Jahre 1927 für Sir Jmaes Craig, 1. Baronet, geschaffen. Dieser war der erste Premierminister von Nordirland und Vorsitzender der Ulster Unionist Party.

1918 war der erste Viscount zum Baronet erhoben worden. Dieser Titel gehört zur Baronetage of the United Kingdom.
