Das Weapon Storage and Security System (WS3) ist eine Konstruktion, Nuklearwaffen in den Flugzeughangars in Gruben zu lagern. Es wird in Flugplätzen der US Army und der NATO eingesetzt. Aus diesen Gruben sollen Waffen wie die Atombombe B61 unmittelbar in die Kampfflugzeuge wie zum Beispiel Kampfjets F-16 eingeladen werden.

Die Konstruktionen finden seit 1995 größere Verbreitung. In Europa werden derzeit auf Flugplätzen in Deutschland, aber auch in Belgien, den Niederlanden, in Italien, der Türkei und in Großbritannien auf diese Weise in unterirdischen Gruben eingelagert.

Eine interne Untersuchung der US-Air Force ergab 2008 dennoch Bedenken bei der Sicherheit generell.[1][2]
